The third largest city in Scotland, with a population of about 210,000, Aberdeen is known for two things: its beautiful granite buildings and, of course, oil. Since the discovery of North Sea oil in the 1970s, the city has seen a boom and is the centre for the North Sea energy industry. Aberdeen had much to offer tourists as well as those on business and makes an excellent base for exploring the vast heritage of the north east of Scotland, whether it’s the Whisky Trail, the Castle Trail, Royal Deeside, or simply a visit to the many nearby fishing villages.
