Housed in a lovely Victorian building, the Douglas Hotel was established in 1853 but has been refurbished since then into a charming 3 star property.
There are 98 bedrooms, tastefully decorated in a simple fashion with crisp linens and bright bedding. The style is fairly functional but offers a clean and comfortable stay. Bathrooms are of an older style and don't tend to have the array of toiletries that is popular in this standard of hotel.
The ground floor breakfast room, where a hot & cold buffet is served, is large and bright. The Bistro Bar is cosy and welcoming and serves food all day. Guests can also relax in a spacious lobby area where there's plenty of sofas and a warming fire.
